Building on its chamber collaborations with recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey and Duo Sol, the Flinders Quartet returns for Musica Viva Tasmania in 2010 with Karin Schaupp, one of the country’s best loved guitarists.

The Flinders Quartet has performed at major chamber music competitions worldwide, including Banff, the London String Quartet Competition and the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. Melbourne radio station 3MBS FM’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence, the quartet has received an ABC Limelight award and been nominated for an ARIA award.

Queensland guitarist Karin Schaupp is one of the most outstanding young guitarists on the international scene today, performing widely as a recitalist and concerto soloist throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Back in Australia she is a highly successful recording artist with five best selling CDs to her name, including several with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Performing together for Musica Viva Tasmania, this concert blends 19th century European music alongside contemporary Australian repertoire.
