The electrifying musical partnership of Alina Ibragimova and Cédric Tiberghien has swiftly secured a reputation as one of the world’s most accomplished and popular new duos, with audiences worldwide captivated by the pair’s joie de vivre. The two young artists met through the BBC New Generation Artists scheme during 2005, and quickly discovered a shared chemistry. Born in Russia in 1985 and trained at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School and Royal College of Music in London, Ibragimova is a violinist of outstanding sensitivity and formidable technical command. French-born Tiberghien studied piano at the Paris Conservatoire before being awarded the Premier Prix in 1992, aged just 17. He has since established an impressive international career dividing his time evenly between chamber music, solo recitals and concerto performances. This is the duo’s first Australian concert tour. * Commissioned for Musica Viva Australia by Geoff & Vicki Ainsworth and Carl Vine. Tasmanian premiere performance. |
